Homogenizing

For the manufacture of high-quality toilet soap a homogeneous soap structure is needed.

For homogenization of the soap mixture, roller mills are especially well suited. The peripherical speed of the rolls acting together is different so that compressive and transverse force work the soap in the roll gap and tritu-ration of the soap is made with small layer thickness.

SELA roller mills are offered for capacities from 300 to 5,000 kg/hr. Electronic soft starters are standard. At discontinuous operation, additional equipment for repeated passage is available.

Behind kneading mixers or two stage continuous mixers, roller mills with three rolls can be used, because a part of homogenization is made in the preceding processing stage. In other cases, machines with four rolls are usual. The gap widths of rolls can be adjusted continuously. Normally, the last roll gap is set at 0.1 to 0.2 mm width.

Warming of the soap by homogenization is compensated by water cooling of the rolls. For special intensive cooling, rolls with peripheral cooling channels can be used.
