Neutralization of Fatty Acid
The continuous SELA neutralization process for production of laundry or toilet soap has the advantages of low consumption and high yield.
The neutralization takes place in the reactor at 110°C to 125°C by feeding fatty acid and caustic soda into the circulating saponified product. This circulation loop consists of neutralization reactor and recycling pump. The neutralization loop is heated to also allow stop and start. Excess saponification heat can be removed by loop cooling.
To the neutralization equipment subsequent washing, fitting and drying installations can be added. Neutralization of fatty acid can also be done discontinuously in boiling or mixing kettles.
